I have been using Carquest (Wix) filters on my 2005 6.0l F250 since new, and was surprised today when I bought my oil change supplies and the filter came with a new top cover. It is actually longer than the original filter and cover. I assume longer is better, more filtration, but would like to see if anyone has used these yet. Any input?
Don't use WIX filters for Oil or fuel. They are will-fit and can harm your engine. Stay with Motorcraft and Fram for Oil filters, and Motorcraft and Racor for Fuel Filters.
^^^X2. Saving a few bucks now will cost you a lot more down the road. There is a motorcraft filter seminar on youtube for the filters on these trucks. I would check it out if i were you

Wow, thanks for the info. I actually changed the oil last night and really don't think this filter is correct. I will go get a Motorcraft filter today and change it. Thanks for the info guys.
Also, keep in mind that Racor designed the oil and fuel filtration systems on the 6.0. (Or at least that's my understanding.) As a result, I would stay with only Racor mfg oil/fuel filters. As UGA indicated, various suppliers obtain their filters from Racor and put them in their packaging. However, it's my opinion that suppliers other than Motorcraft and International can change their filter provider at any time if it serves their bottom line. Therefore, my approach is to go with either Motorcraft, International, or Racor supplied oil/fuel filters to be on the safe side. It doesn't make sense to risk a $13k motor just to save a few bucks.
Also, thanks for posting the link to the video. That was awesome!!!
Just curious though, if Wix sells a filter thats "inferior" to Ford / International filters, dosent meet International specs, why wouldn't Ford or International void warranties on engines that used them? Or require their filter usage?
I might be wrong here, anybody ever had oil related engine failures , not covered by warranty? ( because of filter use?)
Is this problem only w/ wix oil filters on 6.0's ? ( not wix in general?)
Here is a thread on WIX fuel filters. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l-filters.html
Read what BowTieHatr posted. WIX filters might be great filters in some engines but in the 6.0L they are very bad. It's best to just stay away from using WIX filters in the 6.0L.

No problems w/ any mfg. filters on fuel ?
It's hard to prove that the exact cause of engine failure is from using a Wix filter. Using an inferior filter will take time to cause significant damage to the engine. They didn't mention Wix in the video but take your wix filter and compare it to one of those competitor brand filters and see if it matches up.
Cut the chase and go to the bottom line!! If you are willing to risk a 15,000 dollar engine to save 5 bucks, "Go For It", but don't complain if Ford does not honor your warranty. Just my opinion and you have yours but be willing to be responsible for your decision!
