TorqShift dipstick, refill amount

I changed the inline filter cartridge and drained the transmission fluid from the pan drain plug only. I only put on a few miles after the change, everything feels good.

The manual says to fill with 7.5 quarts of Mercon SP. And for verification, it looks like about 7.5 quarts came out when I drained it, given that one 1 gallon container is full and the second one is 3/4 full. So that is what I put in, 7.5 quarts.

But that little white plastic bulb on the end of the long transmission dipstick is hard to discern exactly where the fluid level is. The truck has been sitting cold for 3 days now, enough time for any residual fluid remaining from the fluid fillup to drain down the inside of the dipstick tube. When I pull it out both the hot and cold crosshatch areas have the pink fluid in them. But you can't really see a fluid level.

Any hints on getting an accurate read from this dipstick?

Thanks

It needs to be running in park, warm, on level ground.

It is difficult to read, make sure you look at both sides of the dipstick and go with the lowest reading.
