I have the 5.4 triton, and ive been hearing a rattle lately. It seems like its in the passenger rear cat. Its bone stock right now, but I'm really looking to get a nice sound out of it. Not to loud at idle, but smooth deep sound when driving. Should I look to replace the cat, and throw on a muffler, somthing like a 40 series flowmaster? I'd like to do a dual out the back with the tips dumping off to the side behind each rear tire. Perhaps in the front, but I have the plastic step rails on each side.
40 series are fairly loud. either get a 50 series or go with magnaflow 18". you'll get less drone out of a magnaflow.
as far as the cats go. a lot of people cut out the rear cats and then wire in an mil-eliminator for the 02 sensor. it will really liven up the exhaust note. and they still have the front cats.
