Mirror help
I'm looking for different mirrors for my 68 F100. I don't like the big truck mirrors that it came with. I bought a car mirror, like the ones that come on 60's mustangs, it didn't work. Does anybody have any ideas that could help me with this problem.
Thanks Seafire
Now I have a different question, does anyone know where I can get those nuts used on the big mirrors...looked everywhere and can't find them ANYWHERE

1967/72 F100/350's came standard with the same left hand (right hand was optional) outside mirror the 1967/72 cars used, there were two styles.
C7AZ-17696-A .. Rectangular head, non hooded, left side only.
C8AZ-17696-B .. Rectangular Head-Hooded, left side only.
Why you don't usually see these mirrors today.
These were not factory installed (no outside mirrors were). They were put into a box, and placed inside the cab at the factory, and were installed by the dealer.
Most customers wanted something else, so most of these car mirrors were never installed, and were tossed out, because few wanted them.
These passenger car mirrors are sometimes refered to here and by aftermarket parts dealers as "Sport Mirrors" but Ford never called them that.
The C7AZ type has been reproduced.
Make sure when you install this type of mirror, that the vent window clears the mirror head!
Some peeps don't notice, and install the mirror too close to the vent window, so it will not open more than an inch or so.
btw: 1967/72 Mustangs used these same two mirrors, 1965/66's did not, as the various 65/66 mirrors had round heads.
There were several other Mustang outside mirrors besides these, including "racing mirrors" first offered in 1969.
