I talked to Kris right after it happened, a few hours ago. I wasn't going to say anything until he posted, but I guess the news is already out. He's on his way home now, with the truck on a wrecker. He said he should be posting pics here in an hour or so.

Expecting it, hell, he wanted it to blow. He has been hinting for the past month that he had some parts in boxes just waiting.
Funny thing is, that the boxes were the 4.56's and lockers...
Yes i've been expecting it, but it couldnt have come at a better time. I wish i could have posted on my own, someone with a big mouth, my fault i guess i shouldnt have sent a picture... Anyway. Left the fairgrounds, running for about 10 mins, nice and warm. Come up to a major 3-lane/2-lane intersection right as the traffic im merging into's light turns green. I quickly stop and then get out into traffic, about 50% throttle, 2500 or so RPM, and hear a loud bang, then another, and then a few pops, a crackle, and a snap. My heat extractor hood works, white smoke was pouring out of the vents, i was only going maybe 20mph so i shut it off and coast to a stop, a nice redneck guy and his woman pull up in this 79 conv. bronco and help me push my truck right up the turn lane into a shopping center, thanks to my girlfriend for driving my truck for the first time without any engine assistance. Walked back up to the road and into it, start picking up parts and pieces off the huge oil slick, cars beeping at me and yelling to get off the road.. I picked up what i could find....
Your damage is a lot worse than mine was. Pieces of the piston and a ring already outside the block...crazy. I'm curious to see what it looks like on the inside when you tear it down.

I think it's more of the fact that that's just the tune that people run around in the majority of the time. Probability of the engine letting go in the tune the chip is on just increases when the chip is on that setting so much in the situation when these things let go, which is typically just cruising.

I disagree respectfully on that last part. With alot of stuff already outside of the engine, and one identifiable part that looked to possibly be part of the oil pickup.. (not sure?) its going to be fun to tear it apart and see. I didnt get to look into the fenderwells yet to see the holes, but water was pouring out alongside the road on the passenger side, it took out the motor mount which sits near cyl 7 i believe... I wonder whats in the pan. Too bad i wont be able
to work on it for a few weeks because my knee isnt quite healed up, i cant kneel on it for a few months im guessing, and you cannot pull an engine without kneeling just once...
