I guess i forgot to mention that i didnt really need anyone's opinion on what axle THEY think i should have.
I seem to recall on more than one occasion that you have had more than one opinion. let's see, you shared your opinion on on a few threads, that had anything to do with BFG A/T's, and anything to do with TTB fromt ends.
Opinions are what "public forums" are all about.
I did not criticize or mention that building a D44 was a mistake, though now that it is out in the open, it might not be the best choice, and would not be a mistake made by myself ever again. Been there, done that.
Only sharing some experience with you. I once thought that a chro-mo 44 would be acceptable, and it was not.
Dress up a 44 and it is still a 44. Add high end axles, and the bottom line is that it is still just an expensive D44.
Your truck, you do what you like. but there is a reason why guys with tires the size of yours are not running D44's.
Yes there are exceptions to every rule, but this is probably not one of them.
44 Chromos break too....I snapped mine the 2nd time out. D-60 is on its way in, actually just started it today. Im done with 44's with big tires, ive thrown too much money away. Ive got 38 TSL's by the way. Ive broke stocks, chromos, and about everything in-between.
Just preachin' to the choir i guess. Believe me, i know the strength differenced between a 44 and 60.
you sure about that? seems to me everyone who 'knows' has 1 tons (or comparable) or is working on it!

hahaha, you post this up (your D44 breaking from 40" tires, who woulda thunk it?) in the offroad section after years of us ******* the new guys for doing this exact same thing and then expect us to come back with a civilized response? pffftt!
you say i am preachin to the choir but then you are gonna go out and drop the coin for cromo shafts (which dont mean dick with the ujoint size, thats what broke to begin with). so now after you upgrade to cromo D44 shafts and you go out and play and break the standard sized joint you are just gonna be in the same boat but with less cash!
i'd rather see you throw a set of stock replacements in and upgrade to better joints! you'd come out cheaper buying longfields (strongest joint you will ever find!) for $150 each and prolly be stronger than cromo shafts alone! Longfield Super Axles
but hey, i know you dont want mine or anyone elses opinion so take what we are saying and pretend everyone is talking to/about me!
dont take anything i am saying personally, i am just trying to help. name of the game is you gotta pay to play!
People's opinions are just trying to help you from spending a ****-ton of money. Alot of us have been there, done that and now spending even more money in upgrades that should have been done to begin with (Me being one of them!) So if you dont want anyone elses opinions go ahead and Waste your money, it sure as hell dont bother me or probably anyone else.

The purpose of this thread was to simply share the pics with everyone...nothing more. I said one day i would like to drop chromos in it, but its all back together now with stock shafts for the time being.
dana 44's are a joke! you need a king pin high pinion dana 60 front with 35 spline outter stub shafts. end of story! buddy is right about using closed knuckle inners being larger though. back when i was in high school...lol i used them and they were tough for 40's even with a locker. you have to shave the axle where the snap rings go in and tack weld the caps in to use them as they just clear inside the housing. say good bye to any grease in there. plus shave the lower ball joint threads.....lol. but who really cares about screwing up your front axle really its just a dana 44. i had 3 of those low pinion pieces of junk things in my back driveway i didn't even attempt to sell i just threw them to the steal yard and said good riddens. good luck with your 2wd truck as far as we see it i guess.
