94 explorer will not start
originally, the car was driving and then started stuttering and then it acted like it was misfiring and then died. after messing with the battery teminals it started again. Thought it was the etiher the terminals or battery, both were shot and there was what looked like fresh acid on top the battery and started to drive home. Then after about 10 mins of driving it sputtered when i stepped on the gas then it died. when trying to start it, i had the passenger start while i looked under the hood, the battery was sparking. walked over to Wally world and got a new battery and terminals and replaced them all. Still will not start. Towed it home the rest of the way.
Now there is not spark. checked and replaced the coil pack, no luck, it measured bad. checked and replaced the crankshaft position sensor as it was not acting correctly either. Still no starty start. it turns over, fuel is delivered but i still cannot get any spark. I tried replacing the ICM, ignition control module, and the PCM with known good ones and still have the same probelm. It will not start.
does anyone have any other POSSIBLE suggestions or a 50 cal that i can shoot it with. i am down to 1 vehicle and need to get thsi one working for me to get to work. ANY and ALL suggestions would be a great deal of help as i have no idea what else to do.
What has been done so far:
New battery
New Coil pack
tried known good ICM
tried known good PCM
Checked all fuses under the hood
checked all fuses under in the cab
checked and swapped relays with know working ones as well
checked for the voltage to the coil, which was good
checked the voltage to the crankshaft senson, which was good
everything else appears to be working, lights, radio, blower, fuel pump etc except the starting thing.
HELP HELP HELP PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEEEEE
In addition, can you tell that the fuel injectors are firing? Are the spark plugs getting wet with gas?
With all that you've replaced, have you checked any wiring? ICM getting power? ICM have a good ground? PCM getting power and ground? Any codes in the computer? I've seen many no starts that left a clue in the computer's memory that made diagnosis a lot easier (also seen no-starts that don't leave clues, but it only takes 5 minutes to pull codes and see).
Is there anywhere to get a good set of schematics? the haynes manual does not provide the best set for tracint this out.
anyone know what the ballast looking thing is that is connected with the coil pack??
Any other suggestions please....i am at my wits end with this one.
