Nothing fancy here. My van has suddenly lost spark. Looking for help tracking down what is going on. Things I've replaced; the ICM, the pick up in the distributor. I removed the remote start. Tested the coil, good. Not getting a check engine light at all. PCM is not flashing a code, just battery voltage. All the fuses seem to be good in the distribution box and fuse panel. Tracking down a short situatuon in the ignition system line of power. I pull the fuses for the ignition system, the short goes away. Miles of wire and lots of relays and so on. Any one out there interested in taking a swing at this one? It may be a long trip... Thanks for any help.
More than likely you have a bad computer.
But before you take it out and open it up to see if you have leaky caps, broken crystal or something burned up in it make sure you have good power to the power pins (1, 37 & 57) and a good ground to the ground pins (#6, 40 & 60).
Just exactly what i was looking for... I will perform these tests as soon as the weather lets up. I'll post my findings... Thanks for the reply, most grateful.
Good news... restored spark after running down a few lose ends in the ignition run. Bad news...lost power to the fuel pump system...also which has to be the same problem, is the power to the pcm has gone as well...testing the power wires around rollover switch showed no power...i think im gonna start looking for fuse links...all the fuses in both panels are hot and in good shape...lost power in the grn/red stp wire in the plug in the altenator, weird...tracking down a fuse link seems to be giving me problems...i know for sure that the fuel pump system was running when all this started...may have caused problems for myself by removing the remote start...deffinite power problems...still gonna get after it...Thanks!
