Question Hey RRuss, about porting..............

RRuss, you metioned awhile back that you had used someone to check a pair of heads- someone with a flowbench who only checks out and verifies numbers on heads, rather than porting himself. Who is that and where is he ? Was it exspensive ? I would love to have a set of my max effort D2s flowed by an independant tester to get some unbiased numbers. DinosaurFan

Well Cal, the Guy I used used to be in Richmond, VA....and I knew him by Big Mike..this was about 4 years ago was the last time I have used him..and Glenn and I were talking about that about a year ago when I made a trip to VIR for a Nostalgia meet.. and stopped by where he was working out of his shop in the back of the house....and I guess from what I was told he went thru a messy divorce and lost his azz...As one of his old neighbors told me that used to hang at the shop...

But your up there with Barry R...and I'am sure any reputable shop will flow them for you and you can verify the number you have...Or if you just wanta see what there flowing.. But as I recall Mike charged me $100 for the flow test... and that was after I had Les Shcmader up in PA do the work...on a set of C4's I had...

Les does alot of roundy round motors up that way..and is real reasonable on his prices...and does a real good max effort hand port job...as much as the material will accept...

I had the flow sheet up in my Gallery for a couple years..But when I changes direction..as I have done plenty of.. I took alot of my stuff off because it was all sold...

Another good shop is Evans Racing in Owensboro KY, Lem and Charlie up there do some damn good work.. But the only thing is Charlie wont mess with FE heads..He would probably flow them for you..but he wont work on them...

and then there's Scott Vincent also in Ky not far from Lem and Charlie that does FE's..But I havent seen him around in awhile....But I know he used to rent Charlie's Flow bench from time to time.. And there C&C thats just putside of Richmond, He's an Old FE guy, and has built some of the baddest FE's in the past.. I wanta say its Carl ? but dont quote me on that....But he's now Big time into the 429 and 460 based Drag builds and does premium work also..and I'am told that he will mess every now and then with FE's if he likes you!!

Oh and there's Terry Walters over in Roanoke,VA....But he screwed up one of my 428 blocks ..well he didnt one of his boys did...and I wont deal with him any longer!! Plus he's to busy racing too watch his shop anymore!!

Thats about it around here..other than N.C. down in Concord.... Hope that helps ?
