it came off on the side of the firewall... coudl this eventually hurt the clutch? looks like it has been like this for a little while, the guy i got it from put a wire around it the pedal would not come all the way up.
If we're talking about the same rod. The one the CPP (clutch pedal position) sensor sits on, then no it won't hurt your clutch disc, but if the wire keeping your pedal from coming up breaks or stretches, then the rod will fall out of the cylinder and you won't be able to disengage the clutch (when you push the pedal in the truck will stay in gear).
These things are easy to change, you can buy the entire pre-bled master / slave assembly from Ford and do it yourself in 45 min. or less with only a pair of channel locks and a screwdriver. You can also just by the master & new rod and leave the rest of the hydraulics in place
wow master and slave cylinder is that easy to do, thats awsome. on my 93 150 when i did that the stupid slave cylinder is inside the trans.... pain in butt
