Possible Future Ford Owner

Hey everyone,

I was hoping I could get some opinions on a truck that I'm considering getting.

The truck is a 1996 Ford F-250 XLT 5.8L EFI AUTO 4X4.

The current owner is a machanic that I have known for a long time. He bought this truck with a Salvage title with a rear impact.

According to him he replaced the bed and rear taillight. He says there is no damage to the frame. As he fixes up recks a lot I trust his inspection of that fact.

There is some work that needs to be done before he can get a price back to me. Front driveshaft, Cats, and he wants to replace the ball bearings in the front.

Overall its in good condition besides some cosmetic issues. There is no vissible rust, maybe some spots that are starting to rust in scratchs. He painted the frame rails with some sort of black paint when the bed was off.

If some people could give me anymore info on the truck or a pricing I could expect him to come back on. Maybe a place to search up Vin info.

He says it has a 6 inch lift on it and the rear bed paint looks a little less greenish blue and more green than the cab.

Any help or opinions would be great!

Thanks

Wouldn`t worry about the rear diff cover. They can be prone to rust and may just be extra protection.
Looks a nice truck, hopefully others will give you an idea of value.

i would bank on around 2500 if the body and frame are "rust free"...in other words no rust holes u can see through... if she runs and drives good go for it.. id b a little skeptical of the mileage. dont let him tell you its worth more cuz of low miles... it looks like it was hammered on a little...2000-2500 is a fair price in my estimation.

What do you see in the front wheels? As nothing sticks out to me very much.

Well Ill give everything a good look over once he works on it. It has been sitting as is for months now so could be anything effecting the tire look such as slope maybe low air pressure.

I'm considering doing a history report.
Carfax reports 8
Autocheck reports 9

Which one should I go for? I feel Autocheck due to the extra report.
