I have a 90 f250 with IFS and hd d44. Any suggestions on how I can beef this up. Would it be easier and/or cheaper to find a used d60 instead. As much feed back as possible would be helpful-thanks.
d60s are very expensive. The d44 will handle the 35s perfectly fine but if you MUST have more strength, just bolt a d50 TTB in there. It's a bolt in job.
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Thats it for now, saving for a stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
It may have the ttb d50 all ready, but I'm not sure.I 've seen aftermarket alloy shafts and stronger u-joints for sale but I'm not positive if these components will work with the TTB. Maybe I should find out which axle I have.
I run D50 TTB with 35" swampers and a 460 with NO problems.
There is a big debate about what parts are better and compatible with the D44, the D50 and the sraight D60 right now. Alot of speculation and some facts. If you are concerned about strength, no one will argue, get a Dana 60, it's a direct bolt in. If you want good driveability and good strength get a D50 TTB bolted in. Or keep your D44HD, it is only a small step lower than the D50.
