What you guys think I am looking at a 1975 highboy the owner says there is a 351m in it I thought they didn't come with that till 1977 and it has a np203 also there is only a rear fuel tank on it. I don't know what steering setup it has.
Don't be afriad of the 203. This is a reasonable T case, but once it fails, I might not bother changing the chain. I might not even consider installing the part time kit, and just throw a 205 in there.
Since the 205 does not have that giant output (diff section) the driveshaft lengths are different. You will have to use the 205 crossmember, but it is an easy swap. This also requires a different shifter, but again, worth the effort.
I picked this on up not too long ago for 1200, or 1300 bucks. Runnning, and registered, 460, 435, 205, 44HD, 60 rear with 4.10's, and 38" rubber. Not bad deal for me.
heak I am wondering what I can start buying these things for if gas hit 5 bucks a gallon. Image of The new 75 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There are several tell tale signs that something has been modified. Heak my 74 does not have an in cab tank anymore, and it has a D60F high pinion, and some other goodies. Owners change stuff all of the time, so just know what you are looking at, so you do not get a truck that might give you troubles with the highway patrol if you get pulled over. Sad to say, that there have been some shenanigans played with titles and such, so beware.

High Boy: 1967/76 & 1977 before serial # Y20,001 F250 4WD Pickup.
The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN. 1975 F250 4WD: B = 300 I-6 / Y = 360 2V. These were the only engines offered in 1975/76.
All High Boys from 1967 thru 1976 and some 1977's have an in-cab fuel tank.
The in-cab fuel tank was discontinued midyear 1977. If there's no evidence of a fuel filler neck/cap just behind the left door, this is prolly a 1977.
The serial number is the last 6 digits of the VIN.
1975 Serial Number Range: V20,001 - X40,000
1976 Serial Number Range: A00,001 - D25,000
1977 Serial Number Range (split): O00,001 - O99,999 / X80,001 - Z25,000
1977: No High Boys after Serial Number Y20,000.
High Boy Power "Assist" Steering: 1973 and 1974's before serial #T80,001 use Garrison P/S / 1974's after serial number T80,001 and all 1975/77's have Bendix P/S.
the grill is a 76-77 if I get it what I want to do in the future is take my 74 drivetrain and put it in this truck 390, np435 and the np205 I think everything should swap in, do I have to change the towers for the motor mounts? I am going to try to see it this weekend and see how good the body and frame are? from what I see and here I think it is a 77 why whould you change out an fe for a stock 351m

1973/77's all have the same grille outer shell, only the two grille inserts are different.
1976/77 grille inserts are hard to tell which is which because most have faded.
1973/75's use the same grille inserts.
There are two types used 1976/77, and one only used in 1977.
1976/77: One type is black, another is charcoal and light argent.
1977 only: Charcoal.
What year is it?
Compare the VIN on the registration with the VIN on the Warranty Plate, located on the left door face below the latch.
Ppl swapped doors due to accidents and didn't swap over the original Warranty Plate.
1973/79 doors are all the same.
The 351M/400 engine 'towers' are not the same as 360/390's.
As original from the factory: No F100/150/250 4WD came with a 390 engine.
didn't know that thought they did come with the 390 so all the 390 were swaped in?
Some 390's have been swapped into 1965/76 4WD's. And...while some sellers claim their 4WD truck has a 390, they are not 390's at all.
Since one FE engine looks identical to another, and many peeps have never heard of 352's or 360's, on sale day, both these engines magically turn into 390's.
I have the same truck in the XLT trim - I bet if it is a 75 that you have a 360. Mine magically was a 390 as well at sale time, until I pulled it for the rebuild and saw 360 stamped on the pistons. My 360 was swapped from a donor 1972 Ford F250.
I have an in cab tank, as well as the added mid tank (option) - I think the in cab was standard?
Did you post up the door tag and registration VIN info? If so I didn't see it. If not, then please post it and we can tell you what it is. Plus, any pics would be helpful. Interior and exterior color?
