had auto parts store install an optima/vertex battery 12 days ago. he failed to use the 9v codesaver. computer codes dumped...now engine idles too low (4-500 rpm) in "drive" when stopped. idle correct with no load on eng. thought low idle/code problem would correct itself. does anyone know a procedure that will reinstate proper codes???
It's my understanding that it takes some driving to get the codes back into the computer. I think its about 100 miles of driving so the computer understands your driving style.
Look in your owners manual and it should tell you.
You can get a "code saver" for next time at Pep Boys. It used a 9 volt battery you supply and insert into the cig. lighter and it will retain your codes and radio presets.
