I believe that the fender vents are just for looks, to lazy to go verify that. It is dark ink blue pearl metallic. If it is cloudy out it looks black. I love the interior color. We are very happy with it so far, only 270 miles on it.
I think BMW re-started the front fender vents with the new M3 in 2001. I see a lot more new cars with them now. The portholes are ugly, but they are fitting on a Buick.
Very nice...love the color. The bigger engine with the 6 speed has made a world of difference in the car. The only complaint any of my customers ever had with the 500 was the lack of power and the ECVT tranny. None of my '08 customers have registered any complaints.
The first tank of gas through it and we got 23 mpg, mostly city driving. I'm pretty happy with that, can't wait to see what it gets on the highway. That bothers me that people are beating up the 3.0l. If my research was correct, the 500 was only 300 lbs. heavier than the old Taurus. According to my math that means that if you had two adults in an old Taurus, then you were just as heavy, and it did the job.

The early 500 had a CVT behind the 3.0. That makes almost any engine feel like a pig. A conventional transmission would have made a big difference. Once the reputation was made with the CVT, facts don't matter.
It is an SEL and the only option is the Sync. We bought this car for less than a Fusion SE w/v6. That is one thing we like about this car, it looks expensive, but it's not. It's my wife's car, so I don't get to drive it much. Sunday morning I took it to the store, and since she didn't come along I got on it. I took my foot off the accelerator at 6000 rpms, and it still had plenty left. I can see that I'm going to have to be careful when I'm driving.
