yellowstones volcanoes left a 30 mile wide caldera, talk about blowing your top
They estimate the 'output' to be anywhere from 100 to 1000 krakatoas blowing their tops. I know that Tambora (1815?) DID create an average 2 to 3 degree drop in global temperature for several years.......And from what I hear made for some spectacular sunsets.
Discovery had a 'movie-mentary' on such an event called 'Supervolcanoe' several years ago.....Pretty interesting.....
Having been to Yellowstone many times and hiking/fishing around some hot areas,
I did feel a bit uneasy knowing that I was standing on top of what is volcanic activity.
I could catch fish and cook them in the same stream.
And that smell of sulfur, like several hundred dozens of rotten eggs.
If an ELE happened, would the government still want their taxes? Would the banks still want their mortgage income? You can be damn sure there won't be a lot of jobs out there. Is there insurance coverage for asteroid strikes?
And I would be drinking plenty of IPA (Indian Pale Ale) if a 6 mile wide chunk of space debris came hurtling towards me.
I wonder if Aflac covers meteor damage?
Aaaflaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac!
no... but geiko does... all-state also... LOL
personally im not gonna give a care about it... i party like a rockstar... drive like in nascar and do things like a pornstar... and fight like rap stars... and want to work on some alaskan crab fishing boats... i think the high risk life styles MIGHT just kill me before some metorites do LOL

were the sunsets extra rich in color due to particles that were left from the ash columns in the stratosphere?
i remember seeing some of the stuff out of the supervalcano movie they had....i remember them saying the temp had plumeted and stayed like that for a couple thousand years....like you i find all sorts of this kinda stuff amazing
