Help with Sirius Install?
My wife got me a Sirius Starmate4 for our anniversary.
I obviously want to install in both my '03 Cobra and the '05 Excursion.
These newer Sirius units do not do the FM modulation thing very well, and they suggest installing this stupid wire antenna on the windshield...or using their FM relay that demands you turn the Sirius on and off in order to get your "regular" radio stations. (I think that would be a pain in the butt)
So, I wind up looking into these PIE adapters...none of which "officially" work with either of my radios.
Does anyone have any input on this? I frankly am starting to think it's not worth the aggravation. (I have been using a friend's Sirius and find that there are only a few channels I like...and there's lots of repetition)
Thanks!

FM Direct Adapter - Shop Sirius Edit:Oh i see you dont wanna turn the sirius on and off.Well that doesnt bother me cause i cant see any reason to listen to regular radio when you have sirius.
I use Sirius more listening to it on my computer than in my X.
I have a PIE unit in my 04 cobra and in my 05 Excursion... The 05 Excursion I needed to get the unit that provides 3 additional AUX inputs and a small pad with the input selector button (allows you to basically toggle from DVD, X1,X2,X3)
I will try to find model #'s, but unless you hav an 05 with DVD it will likely be different.
Your best bet it to call logjam and let them help you out. Great guys.
My Cobra would need a different unit I think as the '03's had a different radio.
I did call Logjam...and they said I needed to look up a number on the radios (do not have that with me) as they may or may not work.

I called Crutchfield who said "you have to replace your head units".
I spoke to some other vendors, who all suggested I contact PIE directly. I have done so, and they said that while they have no official guarantee...another guy used my number radio with their FRDN-AUX.
According to what else I have found on-line...the Cobra could use the same.
Or, I can use the FM relay thing....which works...even if I don;t like the method. The sound quality is supposed to be very good.
I think this is the way to go as I tested the unit and the direct FM modulation is worthless. If I decide to install Sirius in my cars...the FM relay thing is $30...and over two cars that would save money.
