bouncing RPM's

ever since i put the moded 17 HPOP in my RPM's bounces about 50 RPM's..only does it when the truck has warmed up ...first start of the day it cranks a little longer...other then that it runs smooth and stong and theres no smoke......oil level in pump is always with in 1/2 inch from top... im thinking maybe an IRP needs cleaning....but maybe o-ring in the injectors..if it was injector o-ring..wouldnt it smoke and miss a little?? any input would be helpful...i dont want to spend alot of cash i dont have to find this...thanks guy's..

You have an AE Ron so can you connect it and see if anything looks out of sorts?

i did a buzz test and Rotational Vel and all injectors are under .05

Ok dumb question, Where is the tach picked up from? Could something have gotten knocked loose with the HPOP install?

not sure..i think the CPS..come to think of it..i changed that too.just before the pump install.i took the gray out and put in a new black IH one..it made the injectors test lower on the Rotational Vel.. before that they were over 1.0

Do the RPMs still vary at idle with the ICP connector pulled?

Good point Robin. Could something have gotten stirred up during the install and cause the ICP to have problems?

You could also try data logging ICP, ICP Duty Cycle and RPM and compare difference between cold and warm engine. You could record it and then play it back.

wont even start if i un hook the IPR..plug it back in and it fires right up...i been up since 2 am...had to be at work by 3 am and didnt get in till 5 pm...im going to bed..ill mess with it later this week,,,just hopeing to get some ideas...thanks guy's...

Won't start with IPR unplugged, ICP it probably what Robin meant.

Did you have Jody update your tunes when you changed the HPOP?
PCM may be getting funny readings , and trying to compensate for a slightly higher than called for ICP by varying the idle.
Of course this is just a Wild azz guess, but stranger things have happened.

I think that is a WAG with some validity. And if "stranger things have happened" we hear about them from other FTE'ers.
