alrighty, im having a lil trouble with a drivetrain decision. i have a 351m and c6 available, and also a 1996 model 302 and aode out of a truck, can anybody out there actually give me pros and cons without being bias towards the carburated engine these days?
Yes, you can put an intake/carb on it. I believe that someone makes a control box for the AODE for this application. Also not a fan of the 351M. Plus, IMO having an OD trans would seal the deal on the 302.
Do you have all the wiring for the 302? As much of a bad wrap as electronics have, they are not all the that bad, the engines are much more efficiant and run better. If you have the wiring or could get the wiring for cheap I would choose the 302. I am a little biased as I installed a 4.6L MOD motor in my old truck. It is really not hard to install the electronic engine in our old pickups.
The 351M is good for only a hand full of things, one being tied to the end of a chain and used as a boat anchor.
If you are set on a carb engine find something other than the 351M or 400 for that matter.
351M and 360 FE are likely the least fuel efficient for the power engines Ford ever made. You can fix a 360 with a 390 rotating mechanism. A 351M is best left as fish food.
