Cost effectiveness and the PMR rods held fine....in stock configuration....most of the time. They found a way to save money that worked for the most part. They were not concerned about the strength higher than what they set it at,which was within their range.

Yes you can, but at that point, why not go to billet rods? Seems with "good" tuning they can only hold 430hp, right?

Billet rods will handle any power level you want. They are anywhere from $2500-$3500 a set but at that time a full engine build is normally warranted.

So why did they not continue with the forged rods anyways?
Powdered metal is exceptionally cheap compared to forged.

Yeah I know a real good mechanic. Thanks for the link it probbably won't be for a while before I want to upgrade to forged rods.

Good idea is to install head studs and higher rate valve springs while you are in there, another $800.

I think I'm just going to have to use the good ole eyes and look through the peep hole lol and yes it was you Will who said the "Red-Headed step child" comment. I was wondering where I heard that from.

I guarantee that if you tear into the motor to "just install the forged rods", you'll look at all the other things that you want to beef up and before you know it, you have dumped big $$ on what was supposed to be a rod swap. Been down that road many times over the years with my gasser muscle cars.
