hood latch
It appears I have a faulty hood latch on a 99 F-150. Not being able to open the hood, I don't know how else to access the latch. Is there some kind of special tool that can slide under the hood to disengage it?

Usually, if you can get somebody to pull on the inside release handle while you push and bang on the hood with your fist, it'll release. I've never had to go further than that, but it seems like pressing down on the hood and inserting a thin hook to pull the tab would work. Otherwise, I think you may have to break out some of the grill.

This issue sucks with a capitol S. I had that problem on my frigging 06 for hecks sake! Sorry to a previous poster, I ain't banging on the hood of a 40,000 dollar vehicle. So I took mine to the stealership, and asked them to please open my Go222$$$am hood. They did. I stood there with lubricants, and lubed the mechinisum, and drove off.. Hehe heee stupid stealership would have charged me around 100 bucks or more.
Point is to keep the latch and cables lubed. Once a year, is all.

If it is anything like the '92-'96 latches all you need to do is have someone pull the latch and you simply press down or lift on the hood to unlatch it. Now if a cable broke it would be a super PITA.
