Just curious, should I be concerned with the original hood latch, are folks modifying it to something more current? It is only a single latch, without any safety (secondary) latch.

I've had my truck on the road for years now without any issues from the latch.
I've made several road trips at 80+MPH in every kind of wind you can imagine without any issues.
I've had my truck down the dragstrip at about 95MPH, again, no issues.

My '49 F4 has a safety latch. Perhaps something is missing from yours.

Took a couple pictures of my hood latch. In the first picture, the primary latch is on the right and the safety latch, big hook, on the left. Second picture shows the primary on the left and secondary on the right.
Edit: BTW, that gob of weld on the hood latch is not of my doing. It was on the truck and is solid so I did not change it.

Thanks for the pics
I'll have to keep my eyes open for one at swap meets, etc

But, like I said, I haven't had any issues without it so far
