steering column spline

Does anyone have info on whether the splines for the steering shaft to steering wheel of the 48-50 F1's match up to earlier years, and if they differ when they would have changed ? Do the 48-50 splines have commonality to other vehicles of this era ?

Tom, my memory isn't what it used to be but as I remember the splines are the same from 40-48 and 49-57 but verify with someone else...
