my brother inlaw has a 2000 f 350 powerstroke when he first starts it, the truck runs like crap till he get some heat in the motor then it runs super. we have put new glow plugs in but the truck starts fine but after start up it runs like a 1975 chevy cold collared any help guys

 

You check Glow Plug relay to make sure the glow plugs are being told to heat up?

 

How old is the oil and is it full? How warm does it have to get before things smooth out? Any smoke when the engine is cold? If so, what color?

 

no smoke & about a 5 mile trip and truck starts to run fine

 

Does it only do this first thing in the morning, or will it do it in the afternoon if the truck hasn't been driven? What are the outside temps when this is happening? Is there a high pitched wine associated with it running poorly, as in with normal EBPV operation?

 

just of morning after truck as been run you can let it set all day and runs fine
just sick in the am. temp are around 70 to 80 no high pitched wine

 

Doesn't sound glow plug related then. When is the last time the oil was changed? Is it low on oil?
