When I got my BTS, I was told "I dare you to break it". How many trans builders can say that to your face?
Funny becuse my tranny builder almost said the same thing.
And to the other that said that they have their own special parts well you just keep beliving that one ok. He gave me a killer warrenty and said that if it breakes he will fix it for free during his warrenty.

When I told him I would be doing a torque stand to get the turbo to spool up to check for leaks, he was like "So?". I told him that we might damage the trans doing that because it is hard on the trans. He was like "It won't break but if it does, it still is covered."

IIRC, people who have gone to JW have actually seen him cutting out the parts.
How long is your warranty? What does it cover? My warranty will expire in June 09. That means that I have to pay for shipping after that. But the fix is still free after that. Is your's the same?
Ive installed 15 BTS trannys. On all different configurations of trucks. The bts comes ready to rock. There are sevral 800+ cummins and some really strong fords with his box behind it. Maddog was running a bts when he broke into 4 digits. Everyone gets the same parts and care. even if your someones grandma and only drive it on Sundays.
I would have had a Woods but he wouldn't ship (at the time) and I wasn't driving. I have installed 1 JW and didn't really like the shift characteristics, but it was simply my taste. Both are good, just up to preference.
There may be other builders out there, but none with the time tested reputation. Its your $ spend it how you see fit.
I agree with you though, IF they have the reputation for building a PSD trans, even though they are not talked about on the forums, they can still build a trans. Just because they are not praised, and do not have the internet forums backing doesn't make them less worthy. No offense to anyone. IMO the best trans builder, is the one closest to you who can do it correctly. Some people need to drive for it some don't. I asked the O.P where he lived so it would be easier for him.
OK now. Prices quoted, distance, etc. Are we talking about taking to them for the tranny to be installed or are we talking about having it shipped and putting it in ourselves (or the local mechanic you trust)?

For BTS, IIRC, it is $4100 plus shipping both ways. You need to send back the core. If you go there, he installs it for free.
Yep, no difference in price if it's shipped out or if you go there, he installs it free for you (other than shipping and $1000 core charge to make sure he gets it back)..
How about the TC? Asking since I have 290K miles right now and expect the day to be coming where I will need to get a new tranny, especially if I do a few sled pulls

What about it? That is the price of the trans and that includes the TC.
That doesn't take it too far from what other "premium" trannys will run by the time you buy their billet TC on top of the tranny price. I am certainly not an expert on the subject but feel an impending doom to my tranny is on the horizon and want to be prepared for what may be in store.
