It contains the friction modifiers for the clutches.

Grabs better without "chatter". Ive had a few limited slip units over the years that did chatter, kind of a groan or vibration, without the right fluid or additive. Redline does not need the additive, Mobil One, Valvoline, etc do.

So it sounds like it helps the pads slip a little does it extend the life of the pads?

If the differential chatters, feels like a tire rubbing and grabbing against the wheelwell, then that is the clutches slipping and grabbing. I assume constant grabbing will wear clutches more than those that are sliding properly with friction modifier.

If you use too much modifier, then your limited slip, slips too much and you got essentially a one legged differential. So use just as much modifier that will take away the chatter. Usually on a fresh fluid change on the Sterling diff, one 8oz tube should be enough.

To test for chatter, backup SLOWLY with the steering wheel turned tight. If you need LS additive, you will notice chatter.

Good Luck,
