If your truck came with keyless entry, I think you'd have a keypad on the driver's door.
The owner's manual shows you how to set up your own personal code. I believe tehre's also a preset factory code that can't be changed.
I'm sure this is a system you can also get aftermarket.

Yes, if you have power doors, doing an alarm system to gain to keyless is a very nice option. You can even go big and get a remote start alarm, that can lock/unlock the doors, start the engine and alert you when there is an intrusion.
The alarms/RS can be installed regardless of factory keyless and will give you more options.

A 97 F350 definitely wouldn't have the keypad on the doors. It wasn't offered until after the Super Duty came out. It wasn't standard on anything until the 2005 model year it became standard on Lariat and above (Harley, King Ranch, etc.).
You best bet would probably be to contact Ford and try to get a build sheet for your truck to see if it came with keyless entry.

How would I go about getting a build sheet? I was speaking of the keyless entry using a remote, like the ones for alarms. As I stated, a friend of mine has a 96 and his came from the factory with keyless entry.

Also you might want to check in this forum as it is a little more geared toward your truck. They need to update the forum name to include '97 F250 and F350 Heavy duty trucks (the 97 F150 and F250 Light Duty are completely different trucks from the 97 F250 and F350 Heavy Duty).
