As fuel prices increased, our Ex's decreased in value (which is how I got a great deal on one). Now that fuel is starting a decline, does that mean our Ex's are going to increase in value? Then again, which came first the ...?
I've already noticed that the supply seems to be tightening up on Excursions. I think the best time for a good deal was about 2 months ago when all the panic selling was going on. It seems like most of the remaining Excursion owners are hanging onto them rather than take a bath on the sale price. The supply of diesel Excursions, particularly the 7.3 models, seems to really have shrunk significantly as compared to 6 months ago. The prices on Excursions (if you can even find one for sale) and Super Duty pickups are still pretty well up there in our local market. There's not a lot of them for sale in our area.
Unfortunatly whenever a cars price drops, due to whatever it may be, theyw ill never recover. Unless it is some sort of muscle car or specialty vehicle. The excursion is not special enough to fit this catagory in my opinion. We took a hit, and the prices will level out for a lil while, then begin to fall once again. i think they will hold steady on pricing for a year or so probably then begin to fall again.
X's still seem to be all over the lots in NJ / NY / CT - it started out mostly the newer diesels and now seems to be the older 2000-2001's from what I notice. I also think a factor in seeing this being sold, in addition to fuel prices, is that families grow up and just don't need these things for grocery haulers anymore and soccer moms. Plus, newer cars as we all know, even entry models, all come with the handy features of our times - NAV, auto start, etc. Just bought a new Honda CRV for our 17 year old daughter and am surprised at how nice the damn thing is. Wouldn't want it to be my daily driver, but she loves it, it's safe (rated, at least) and gets good mileage.
