I don't want this thread to be the typical V10 mileage stories. I want to know what has been done to your Ex WHICH DID increase gas mileage. Tell us what you did and the estimated or real increase in mileage!! Thanks, Max

You can remove extra weight. Thats about all I know that works for sure.. Take out the 3rd row when you're not using it. Take out the spare if you want to risk it... no extra junk in the back.
Chop off your CAT, get a muffler with better flow, upgrade your Y-pipe, check your PCV valve and replace if it doesn't rattle. Fix vacuum leaks, air up your tires to the max, get a good CAI, clean your MAF sensor, run premium synthetic oil (Mobil1), run top tier fuel (Mobile, Exxon, Shell, Chevron)
I have done all of these things and with a light foot I can get just over 13MPG with 35" tires and 3.73 gears. Before I did most of those tweaks I was getting 8 or 9, now I avg 10-11.5, that may not sound like much, but it does add up.
One thing that also helps, so I've heard, is to get the air damn off say a 2010 truck. By far the least aerodynamic surface of your truck is the underside, keep the air from going under there and you will reduce a good bit of drag. So it goes without saying don't lift it, you'd be better off slamming it, if you want better fuel econ.
I plan to get, 4.88 gears, headers with full dual exhaust, and add blower, I will not be putting CATs back on, the single largest tweak that positively affected my fuel economy was cutting off the stock CAT and muffler.
Before you guys yell at me for the environmental/legal aspect of running cat-less... do your homework. Catalytic converters were not required on vehicles with a GVWR over 8,500# until 2004. That is why you will find no second bank of O2 sensors on Excursion/SD gas trucks 2003 or older.
I think it is interesting that my truck is around 10% more fuel efficient with no CAT, makes me wonder if the whole thing is a wash? I mean how efficient are CATs at actually reducing harmful hydrocarbons? I know they are really good at making the exhaust not smell so bad, which in turn makes everyone believe that we are polluting so much less, however there are plenty of other odorless gasses that are quite noxious. My impression of Catalysts is that they are a great way to sell platinum and rhodium, which by the way has a huge environment impact when we mine for it, using slaves I might add.
End rant.
Point is there are a bunch of things you can do, but the easiest and most effective one is go light on the throttle.
There's a whole bunch you can do, but by the time you recoup the cost of most of them, you'll have died from old age. A hundred here, a couple hundred there, that's a few tanks of gas for 1mpg, You'll have to burn 500 gallons of fuel before you start to see the profit.
Best thing I've found is move the pedals a bit farther away and it makes it much easier to not stomp them as much.
Drive it like there is an egg under your right foot! With the 3.73's i used to be able to get 12mpg combined and 15 on the hwy. when i switched to the 4.30 my in town mileage went up .5 mpg and the combined and hwy mileage dropped by .5mpg. My towing mileage went up approx .7 mpg!
Drive it like it's gonna break anyday and you will get decent mileage.
Combine your trips around town to once a day (especially on the weekends). Sorry, but there is no reliable way to improve mpg's other than keeping the engine well tuned, fluids clean and up to level and bearings true and lubed.
id be all for better gas mileage just got my truck last week and i burnt a half of tank in 100 miles driving around town so if anyone has tips for better gas mileage id be happy with some info
