Ok so I havent did much with my truck but I've had some stuff going on that I just havent had the time or money to mess with it but im ready to now so here is my question. I have sold the juice and evo. Bought the single shot injectors stage II. Already got the exhaust and 6637 done. Have gauges and am ordering the dp this week. So I know i still need intank mod and reg. fuel mod. But after hearing all of the war stories Im beginning to wonder about the pmr's. So now im thinking forged pistons? But i really dont know what im getting into here. Is it worth it or shoud I just run the risk??? I really dont want to tear my truck up. Thanks in advance
you dont have to worry bout the pistons for now but the rods. and id say upgrade you turbo first- if you going to drag race or just have plain fun, you need air with fuel, and a lot of people make the mistake of having to much fuel and stock turbo.Than they wonder why they granade their engines.....
put a nice turbo like Turbonetics or Ball Berring Garret with your injectors and DP you will be bout 350 safe HP.
I've been wondering something. What does Jody do differnt with a PMR motor over a forged motor when tuning?
If you are going with bigger injectors than stock in a PMR motor, he can pull back some of the timing and whatever else he needs to keep the cylinder pressures down. That way you don't end up with a window in the block.
So on stock injectors there not much differance with tuning? Since I have no plans on changing injectors.
Stock injectors with big oil will only get you 350 hp. Still safe under the 400hp mark for PMR's. When I did my live tuning, Jody gave me a lot of timing because I was still running stock injectors and I live at altitude (you can get away with a bit more timing at altitude). So it works out nice Jody's comment to me was "that's about as much timing as I'm comfortable with" Thanks Jody
