Just wanted to ask about IDM's. I have heard it both ways, that they are all interchangeable from 94-03, and that they are not. Mine is a 100, and can get my hands on a 120, from an 03. What's the deal with this? Is going from 100 to a 120 a bad idea?
If it came off of a 7.3 it will work. Get it and slap it on there. They are all interchangeable as long as it is a 7.3. You can then have your old one modded to 140v.
Thanx, question answered. Still haven't figured out my loss of power, debating whether to spend the money at the shop for buzz ... ccyl. contribution test..etc... or to go ahead and invest in autoeng. software or something similar. No CEL or codes, and have eliminated... lift pump, IPR, ICP, CPS, UVCH, Fuel return, EBP tube, Fuel press 55 psi. My biggest problem is letting go of $400 for AUto Enginuity and Ford enhancement.

What exactly is it doing? A easy way to eliminate the IDM is to try one from a friends truck. But if you post the problems you are having someone will be able to help
About a month ago my cam sensor went out, followed 2 weeks later by my lift pump. Cam sensor seemed to fix it but never got full power, and if I hold the throttle at 2500 rpm or so(out of gear) and let off it will sometimes stall or the idle will "surge" between 530-700 rpms back and forth and back and forth.

You may need another CPS, they can go bad right out of the box.
Your TPS is next, along will the IVS. Throttle position sensor & Idle validation switch. They are both located on the "GO" pedal. Search this forum for TPS or IVS
Also, Check your Transmission range sensor (TRS) It's located on the driver side of the tranny. Search this forum for TRS.
Sorry I can't be more help...need to get back to work
