Hey everyone,
I have heard people talking about a Hydroboost system to make more power in a diesel and improve fuel mileage. From what I understand it sprays a mist of water through the injectors with the fuel and creates steam which increases compression. I tried to look this up on google and just get hydroboost brake conversions. I am very interested in doing this to my 96 psd if it makes that much difference. They say it is better than propane injection. Any info would be great.
It's probably water-methanol injection.... Both water/meth and propane can be good products, if not used carefully they can quickly destroy your engine. If your looking to get better millage, consider ditching the cat and muffler. also a nice free flowing intake will help a bit. if you decide you can also get a chip that has a good economy tune on it. The chip i had got me into the 20MPG range on the highway at 65ish and 18MPG around town. I would look into simple things before you hit the "drugs".... just my .02. Good Luck!
Your talking about water/methanol injection. while it may add some power (40HP) its more of a cooling effect with the water being injected. It is a good option if you have exhaust temp issues and you buy a quality kit. The water must be atomized properly or you risk hyrolocking the motor. Search "Snow Performance" or "Cooling mist"
