I'd think a straight piped 460 would be tooo loud, huh?

Maybe a high flow cat (this is assuming he wants / needs one) and a 50 serious Flowmaster. If he wants duals for the looks / whatever, he can run SIDO. Cheaper than true duals, and IMHO, this works good too.

My 300 is way too loud. No cats, FMS44 SIDO side exit. The funny part is, I thought I was going to have a mellow growl. I was wrong. The 460 is 100x the motor my 300 is, so I would be careful how I work the exhaust there. He does need to drive the truck.

Open up the exhaust. A high flow cat (kill BOTH of your cats and just replace this with one high flow) and run a long thrush glass pack. Before you say "Glass packs sound horrible!", let me point out you have a 460. No, it won't sound horrible. I liked it on my 300 when I had a cat on it, so I know it would only sound whicked on a 460.

You'll notice a power boost right there, probably.
When I was a kid we had a 1975 f-250 camper special with a 460 and my dad put on glass packs, sounded great ! Unfortuneatly they are probably outlawed here in the Peoples Republic of California !

You think so? They're desginated a "muffler". =/

Do anything to a V8, it'll sound good. Do anything to a 460, it will sound even better.

Big block. Mmmmmm.

right now, when I drive bye any bushes, canyon walls or other barrier the exhaust sounds like air coming out a compressor. No good tone no nuthin' . It just sounds like its "bound up" for lack of a better term.

This is how lame my exaust is. Sounds like a lawnmower. Has single exhaust all the way back (Past the cat) then has a welded on dual tip at the end. Whats the point ? I am going to do 3" pipe from the cat back with a 50 series flowmaster. THe same setup woke up my 97 5.4 with 250,000 mi. Different motor I know....but...

Glad to hear you're taking my advice, I think you'll like it. Are you going to replace those cats or just leave'em alone?
