I have another account under some name I can't remember but i hardly ever used it. I have just started my restoration/modification project and have seen this forum used effectively. I got the truck(a 1976 F250 Ranger 4x4)(thats a hiboy right?) from my dad who got it from my grandpa who bought it brand new in 76. The truck means a lot to me because my grandpa died of cancer when i was only 1 year old. He and my dad had done some customization on it, nothing too radical just an exhaust and what i thought was a lift.(highboy?) So I'm going to stick to that, nothing extreme just something to set it off and add a little bit of me into the family truck. Any ideas, advice, or comments for my initial undertaking. I'll put up pictures once i figure out how.

Yep, don't give up. If you are going to start a complete restoration it is going to involve a lot of your time. Know that going in and it will be fine.
The truck has a 360 in it that i plan on keeping for sentimental reasons, kinda like the badge above the f250 one says "elk river ford" the dealership a few miles down the road where my grandpa got it, and the pointless cb radio, and a few other little things, this thing is so special to me. the stroker kit will make it a 390 right? And i know this will be time consuming especially because i like to drive her every now and again so having her inoperable for a huge amount of time would kill me. That is so cool that it is a hiboy, i always liked the sound of that, but never knew i had one. Btw I am in college, so my possibilities aren't endless lol they are rather limited, i have about 5k to work with as of now. Also i hope these pictures work.
Flares are aftermarket. There were no factory optioned flares offered from Ford. They look to be made by Trimbrite and I'd bet they were put on the truck in the late 70's/early 80's. Same style I put on my old F-150 I had back in 79.
I've had a cupple of sets of those flares. I gave the last set away quite some time ago. Probably should have kept them.
Looks like the truck was well cared for, I'd just put a set of wheels & tires on it.
That's one sharp looking highboy you got yourself there Bessy, the exterior looks to need no work whatsoever, how's the interior look? if you insist on putting 5K into you'll have no problem spending it all, i'd start with putting the money into the motor first, get all the mechanicls squared away then if anything's left over by any goodies you want.
yes it is the light brown metalic as best as i can tell and nothing has been repainted, odd for a MN truck huh? all the moisture and salted roads in winter usually corrode these things pretty bad.
i just noticed the second page of posts. yeah the bar is aftermarket slightly customized, my grandpa put that on. and do you know where i can order the crank and stuff to keep the block but get 410 cid?
410cid is actually a stock engine from mercury. it used the same crank as a 428 in the same block as a 390 with its own 410 pistons that are like .010 higher pin than a 390. you can find this stuff in parts catalogs.
