I found the directions to test the VRV. My question is do you have to have a seperate pump and gauge or can you use the combo kind that have the pump with the gauge in it link a vacuum bleeder? and if you can how do you hook it up. The instructions I have call for pump to top post and gauge to bottom post and help would be greatly appreciated thanks for the help
It's a Vacuum Regulating Valve and it was used to control the vacuum to the modulator on the older transmissions. Since these diesels have a constant vacuum, it is needed to control shift points.
Electronically controlled transmissions don't use the vacuum.
Well I adjusted the VRV from instructions I got from the diesel stop. I was alittle worried when I very first put the gauge on it was like 6 and 4. The instructions called for 13 and 7. I adjusted it and it went to 10 and 4 getting better. So then I just pushed it as far towards the cab as possible. And drum roll 13 and 7.
