I have a good mixture of grass so my backyard is green and growing year round providing it rains. The drought kept my rye wheat and clover from growing last winter so I had to buy hay.

Hurricane Gustav got real close. You could actually see the cloud mass off to the east but all we got in the DFW area was a cool breeze. Grass is getting crunchy and brown. Just like my shorts......

After many years of mowing the lawn, I was able to greatly reduce the the hard work that lawn maintenance requires. First go to the liquor store and pick up a bottle of Makers Mark and a six pack of Shiner Bock. On the way back home, pick up a 12 pack of Coke at the supermarket. Be thankful you have done the hardest part of mowing the grass. Once you get home, put the coke and beer in the frig. Next, mix the Makers and Coke, go ahead and make it a tripple shot for all the hard work you did. Finally, grab a chair inside and place it next to a window and watch the lawn crew mow it for you as you sip on your beverage. Once all the Makers is gone (big yard), start on the Shiner.
