Engine Block Plate

I have a 86 Ford Bronco with a 302EFI and AOD.

The engine block plate got bent up while I had the motor out and now it is hitting the when the motor turns over.

Is It necessary Or can I take it Out. I know it was put there originally as a cover for the trans, But will the Trans and starter hook up to the motor without it, or is that 1/16 space needed between the 2 for any reason
If It's important, does anyone have one they would like to get rid of.

I have found several on Mustang websites, that look like they would work, but I'm not sure about that either. Any help is appreciated

This is what Mine looks like, and he sells it but I want to be sure there is no difference in AOD from Trucks to Cars

Thanks

Mike

The AOD is the same for cars as it is for trucks and yes you do have to have it.
