Hello all,
After reading through the way Ford put a larger, Job #2, front spoiler on the new Superduty that is supposed to help the mileage, I looked around to see if I could do it to my 2006 F250 as well. Well I came across this one on the web. It is from Truck Masters design and came with the 2 driving lights as well.(they manufacture it and it is also sold under different names) The installation was really easy and straight forward, take out the plastic rivets holding in the stock piece and bolt up the new one.The only change I made to the installation kit was that I bought stainless steel hardware and used it insted of the regular bolts that came with it. The time consuming part was painting it. I did it myself, and I think it came out really good. I wired up the lights to upfitter switch #4 and used the relay that came with the kit. The only other change that I want to make is to add 100w bulbs in the lights to replace the 55w ones that came with them. Overall I am really pleased with both the looks and the outcome of this little project, as for maybe helping in the mileage department, its too early to tell. What do you guys think?
Looks great! Can you give you some pics a little farther away? It is hard to tell how such add-ons really look unless you see them with a view of the whole truck.
Ill see if I can get the chance for a few pictures from a distance.I have gotten alot of compliments on it, my favorite was from a friend of mine that said it makes the truck look "tougher". As for where I bought it, I found it on line. You can call Truckmasters Design directly, ask for Bill. He was easy to deal with. Here is a link. Ford Air Dams/Bumper Covers.
That does look great! The paint seams spot on, atleast in that view. Any price/cost est.. One word of caution though, fitting light housings meant for 55w with 100w means meltdown for most and cracked/blistered lenses for the rest. Not always of course, but caution could save the housings and air dam. Best wishes.
The cost for the air dam with the lights was about $350 including shipping. The paint was from Pep boys, Duplicolor rattle can. I used their primer,3 base coats, and then 4 coats of clear. Maybe cost $40. Wasnt as hard as I thought and came out great. I used a polishing compound to really bring up the shine. Even up close you cant tell its not a pro job.
The air dam comes in black. It looked good enough to install as it was providing black would work for you. It is an ABS plastic, not fiberglass. I just scuffed it with a scuff pad before I started the paint process.
