At the end of July I removed a faulty alternator on my 1990 F150. The next day started a series of ugly events that landed me in the hospital for 16 days beginning with a 105 degree fever. Turned out to be cellulitis which is a nasty bacteria. I'll spare you the details, but I close to making the expected full recovery. So I've restarted a couple of projects including installing the new alternator. Both bolts are connected to the alternator and bracket and it seems solid and correct. The serpentine belt is back on and is exactly as diagrammed. The rod is threaded on both ends, and the nut is a 15mm.
So, thinking that I've done everything correctly, is this part something that goes back on the truck somewhere, or did I just appear on my workbench from another project?
that kinda looks like the 'bolt' that heads thru the entire alternator and bracket - unless you have a long bolt already. (I have always seen them as bolts not double ended studs)
and hint: if it is, anti-seize the crap out of it b4 u put it back in
Do you mean the mount on the lower left of the alternator? I do have a bolt already through there that had a hex head and screwed in tight to the back of the alternator mounting bracket.
