66' slick C6
I went to PYP this weekend and happened on a 74' F250 with a 390 4V/C6 package which I dragged out/home. I didnt take the rear section of the drive shaft just the front yoke(not sure if that was a fk up or) anywho.. wondering just how much BS i'm playing with to put t in the 66 slick and if I need that later part of the drive shaft or not. The F250 had a carrier bearing I'd assume the F100 setup with the c6 would be the same ? TIA

I made my own transmission cooler lines and used an after market cooler in front of my rad. I found an old clutch pedal and chopped everything off except the shaft, since the brake pedal pivots on the clutch pedal shaft and I wanted to remove the pedal all together. I figured that would be easier than tracking down the correct parts for a factory equipped automatic truck since I imagine more were equipped with 3 or 4 speed manuals.
Total cost was $400.00 for the entire pickup.
$5.00 for can of red spray paint
$50.00 for a new flex plate
$5.00 for the flex plate bolts
$125.00 for the transmission rebuild kit
$200.00 for the stall converter
All prices are estimates as it has been over 5 years since I completed the swap. I built the transmission to be behind a well built 390, I never got to the 390 and have scraped that project all together in favor of a 4.6L MOD engine with 4R70W.
Hopefully this helps you out with your swap.
Jeff

> > Bob...take a look at the bottom of your steering column under the hood at the manual control selector lever, where the shift rod from the trans hooks up.
There's a bushing and insulator in that lever, and if broken, worn, or missing, there will be slop in the shift lever.
The bushing/insulator kit to fix it, is still available from Ford.
It comes with two bushing & insulators, because the same kit also fits 1965/79 3 speed M/T's.

I think the plan is to have the F100 sit idle while the 390 comes together and the C6 can be checked out. Then the headers will need exhaust (dual) yep think it's time to plan on the old girl becoming a full time project for the next year or so.. damn I'm going to miss driving that truck
