Well guys, it looks like this is gonna be a nasty one. I was hoping for a W. LA landfall or Texas but it is forecasting right down the pipe where I live. I'm boarding up tomorrow and hunkering down tomorrow evening, probably start getting nasty around Monday afternoon, lose power around Monday evening and maybe poke our head out for a look see maybe Tuesday noon.
Wish us the best and the PSD goes to work Tues afternoon. We have everything we need but the forum will be offline needless to say...hope my forum friends in the low laying parishes have prepared properly, esp. 'miller feed'
Be careful, Jay, as I'm sure you will be. Hope something happens and Gus changes course causing no damage. But that may be wishfull thinking. Keep us informed as much as you can.
Good luck, Jay. If you decide to run you can always come here, I mean that. I am 40 miles north of Houston.
I appreaciate honestly, we have family all over from Austin to NO, and have back-up plans for the very worst...we'll probably take a more analytical appraoch to this Sunday to see where we go, but we definitely dont need this now....
Glad to hear you have a back up plan. My offer still stands and if you need my cell just PM me and you've got it. I will gladly extend any help to you that I can.
Jay, after you get things boarded up, I'd think again about riding it out. I'll admit that if I were in your shoes I'd probably try to ride it out also, but if you've got places to stay (not New Orleans) I'd think long and hard about doing that. If you can get out before the traffic gets too bad, it won't be a bad trip. If you wait too long, you'll just be stuck sitting on the freeway for hours on end.
Rick made a wise decision heading out this morning to beat the bad traffic. Let us know how it went after the power comes back on. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
We pulled to many folks out from katrina, This should be as strong if not stronger. Don't play with your life .I have to be in Mobile by monday, and would not like to see the losses we had then. Stay safe and leave the place.
