Crap! I dunno how you guys can handle all these 'canes over the years.

I'll take my occasional earth rumbles over 'canes any day.

Good luck to all in the pathway.

Hope everything goes well, I live close to the coast here in Texas. With it being a cat 3-4 hitting land I probably would have left, IMO. Thanks TEXAS OUTLAW for offering the help to them. With my plant being in Freeport I am on call for first return and to get things back running since I work in environmental, I can't go very far. GOOD LUCK keep you head High and stay dry.

From what I heard this morning, the water may be more damaging than the wind. You can find a building that will withstand the wind but no place will be safe if the 17' of water hits land. Time to head inland!

Yep, the storm surge is expected to be 15 to 20'. That's a lot of water that's going to be coming on land.

Louisiana Friends

I spoke with Rick (miller_feed). He and his family are back at their home. He said they are doing OK. There hasn't been alot of rain or flooding in their area, but are having gusty winds (around 65mph). Power is out, generators are running, and the "fish" are biting. Sounds like they will be just fine. They feel better just being at home.
I know everyone has kept them and our other La friends in their thoughts.
(I see Jim as already posted about this)

You could need some of that luck yourself. They do come inland you know. And your not that far away. Just have to get over those mountians. But thanks and there is a lot of members that are going to suffer before it gets to me.

OK guys...we made it through ok. It wasn't 'that' bad of a storm..been thru much worse. we have no power, running on gen power right now. No dmage to the house, but we have some damage to some rental properties...nothing too major. In laws in BR have three trees thru their house so needless to say they did not fair well. They have moved to a friend's house and will start clean-up tomorrow as will I.

Appreciate everyone's help, prayers, and willingness to open their homes...let's pray that the levees hold...that's gonna be a crap shoot

Thanks again, Jay

Thanks for the update Jay. Glad to hear your place escaped the damage. As quick as it's moving West, I'd think the levee's should be ok. They made it through the surge so the worst part is over. Hopefully you get your power back in a day or two. Let us know what you see after your drive through the area the next couple of days.

Well the way this drought has been in the valley we will take anything we can get, usually the Smokies will break it up before the serious stuff hits the valley.
