Need help with OBD codes

Hello everyone, This is my first FORD and not doing good. I have the codes P2138 and P2140 problems. I took my truck to the Dealer and the truck stills has the same problem.
The problem is that the truck still runs, but the throtle will not. I have to turne the truck off and restart before it will work again. After three to four miles it will ack up again and have to repet the stop and start. Can antone help with this problem that the dealer can not fix.

Thanks to all that help,

pktwa

Welcome to FTE. Make sure you let us know what truck and engine you're asking about so we can answer you easier. I see in your profile that you have a 2004, so I'm guessing by asking in the general diesel section you have the 6.0. If you scroll down a little past general diesel, you will find the 03-07 6.0 diesel specific section where you will get all the answers you need about your truck.

Now on to your problem. What did the dealer do? Those codes are for the TPS (throttle position sensor / switch) The diesel uses a fly by wire concept, so the go pedal isn't attached to anything mechanical to dump more fuel in the injectors. A sensor reads the position of the pedal and the computer uses this reading to run the truck.

I'd first check to make sure the wires that plug into the pedal are connected well and not loose. You may end up needing to replace the throttle assembly to fix the problem.

that is an idle validation problem
your tps is a 6 wire sensor
first start by checking voltage at the sensor i belive port D on your sensor is your signal wire
you should have somewhere in the neigherbhood of .25V when the pedel is up when you depress the pedel you should have somewhere around 4.75V
but if you dont want to go to the trouble of checking it take it to the dealer and tell them they are ****ing retards and to sell you a new tps and be on your way but really to be sure check the tps/iv circut back probe it to the ecm its not a hard job and it could save you some coin
