GM one wire alt.
I don't know if the old wires has to be wired to it or if all of the old wires can be removed. I think the wires from the alt goes into the truck to the ignition doesn't it? Eric

Yes, the original ford and even the original chevy have wires
going to the ignition putting the alternator on or offline to
the battery. The one wire alternators have a "self exciting"
regulator that takes itself online/offline automatically.
