Hey Guys, a buddy of mine who I haven't seen in a while just came back into town and after a few adult sodas started showing of his new engine mod. He rigged some pvc and wires together with some sort of solution that he claims gives him better gas mileage and more horsepower in his older Yukon GT. He installed a dial to tune his air-fuel mix and claims it cleans his engine and has no emissions. Have any of you guys done something like this? Is there any truth to his claims?
Well..... I cant say for the PVC tubes and what not, but at work we have spent a fair amount of money outfitting a few of our Big Trucks (Detroit Diesel and one Cummins) With HydroGen Injection. Has upped the Fuel MPG by almost double, as well as the HP and Torque. Both Have been Dyno Verified -
Take a look at this article.
I'm neither a believer nor disbeliever.
The more you learn about Thermodynamics, the more you realize that claims made by HydroGen, HHO (et al) is an impossibility. Their claims violate the immutable laws of Thermodynamics.
I'm not sure what to believe, he swears by his homemade thing-a-magig. He says it has doubled his gas mileage and is cleaning out all the carbon deposits from his engine, all from some stainless steel switch covers and some sort of vinegar solution.
We should call in the mythbusters to figure this one out.....
Funny you should mention that. The DID run an episode on it, and couldn't get it to work. However, to prove that a car can run on hydrogen, they got a big bottle of hydrogen, stuck the hose into the carb of their favorite beater test car and ran it (no gas in the car).

I think it depends on whether it's gas or diesel.
With a diesel, I can IMAGINE it MIGHT make a difference - upping the dynamic compression because hydrogen is so hard to compress. Which may or may not be a bad thing for longevity in a diesel.
But, it's not the hydrogen burning doing anything for the diesel, it's the extra compression.
No, it does NOT work. If you are producing the hydrogen using electricity from your alternator it is going through several conversion steps with efficiency losses in each step, so in the end your mileage will be less. Power won't be affected because, again the efficiency losses. It takes more energy to produce the hydrogen than the hydrogen puts back into the engine. Now, if you were to take externally produced hydrogen and add it to your truck your mileage might go up, but you'll still be paying for the hydrogen in addition to fuel. Also, if you are doing this on a diesel, that is an uncontrolled fuel source and you could have an engine run away.
