That doesn't make much sense to me, but thanks for clearing it up.

To me either, but okay.
Last I checked the '09 Ram isn't out yet, just like the '09 F150. Not as much news about the 150, maybe because they're trying to keep many aspects a secret until the last minute. Maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be. Who knows.

Do the Ford decision makers take the time to read this site or inquire about it's contents? Does Ford really care what we want? If they did, not every superduty on the lot would be loaded with $2000 Nav systems and we might see fewer 38k XLT F-150's. We might see more STX or XL 4x4's with workhorse capability. Those who are OK with spending 40k-50k on truck, well, God bless you, I'm not. There isn't a light truck built that's worth that kind of money. I'm sure i'll get blasted for that statement, blast away.

Not blasting you at all....I think you're right. The loaded $40-50k trucks have been there as "BMW alternatives" for folks who don't need a truck but want to "wear" one.
It is clear that this crowd of truck buyers is going to thin out considerably, leaving more truck buyers to be guys who actually need and use them, even get them dirty and put things in the bed that might scratch it....
And these guys ain't gonna pony up $50k for trucks with nav systems, heated and cooled cupholders, DVD players for each seat, yada yada...
Sadly, though, these are Ford's cash cows, and they're gone...it's gonna be hard to earn cubic $$$ selling Focuses and Fiestas...

Ford doesn't tell the dealers what they put on their lots.....the dealers order what they'll sell...and they sell tons of nav loaded 40k trucks...
and there are plenty of trucks that are worth the money...sticker on my truck was 43k and i use it as hard as anyone....in a year the bedliner is so beat to heck that i'm thinking of buying a new one....the trailer hitch is in use almost as much as its not.....and i've used all 9500 lbs of towing capacity (plus some) more than a handful of times.....
but the part that really makes it worth the 40k+ price....is that after a run through the car wash...I can take my high end clients out looking without needing a second car or renting something.....

but a 25k xl wouldbe just as capable, but not as expensive for the people who dont want to spend the extra money

you totally missed his point... how's he gonna take those business partners in a truck with cloth seats that stain from water and cheap plastic interior...
your right in his case, but a lot of people wont buy trucks to carry clients around, they will use them to work them, and a 25k xl would be just as capable as a loaded 45k truck

thats true in his case, but most people dont buy trucks to carry around clients, they use them to work, where a 25k xl would be just as capable as a loaded 45k dollar truck

They do SUGGEST what percentage of each trim level the dealers order and stock on their lots.
I do like a decently equipped truck. I have a 2001 F250 SC SB 4x4 XLT and it has plenty of bells and whistles for me. I can still work it and I have driven it to places while wearing a suit and tie. I don't need anything fancier.
I do think dealers should offer a few more less equiped models for those who want them.

i agree. my '08 XLT has about all the frills i need without being cluttered. dealer told me it was a rarity to find a truck without a pile of accessories. it was what i wanted, for a price i liked.
