Transmssion Trouble?
Whenever I shift from reverse to drive and take off, my truck seems to stay in 1st a lot longer than usual and then when it finally shifts into 2nd it jerks the truck pretty hard. What could be causing this? Also, it seems to do this when im on the throttle pretty good as well. It will hesitate to shift and I can feel the truck jerk when it finally shifts. I hope this isnt a sign of transmission problems already, I only have 74000 miles on her. Thanks for the help

Unfortunately I think it's going to get worse. Your 2001 probably has a mechanical diode one way clutch. As it starts to fail the 1-2 shift gets later and later until it won't shift until you let off of the go pedal.
If I'm right the trans needs to come out an be rebuilt. Many parts need to change internally to go from the mechanical diode to a sprague one way clutch.

I would check the engine performance, if the engine wont pull, you will press the throttle down further to compensate and the trans will shift later and firmer based on throttle angle.
