You'll hear everything from 8 to 25.....
And none of those are necessarily lies!
It very much depends on how you use it. The three big factors:
- Acceleration. HEAVY trucks need a lot of power and fuel to get moving. Lots of in town use will result in much lower figures, as will brisk accelerations.
- Pulling. The heavier the load, the worse it gets.
- Pushing. How much air are you pushing? Lift kits, wide tires, trailers, high speeds. All will result in you pushing more air out of the way, hurting mileage.
Well I only have a F250 with the 6.0 and 4x4, 3.73 gears and 20 inch tires and a big old heavy cap on it. It is a crew cab lariet
I have gotten as low as 12 and as good as 23. I don't load it to heavy mostly in the 12,000 pound when fully loaded pulling a trailer and that is firewood. Most of the time I use it to haul my handicap kids wheel chairs and other stuff.
With the new bio blend I am getting around 15 for all driving conditions.
With a 6.0 and 19.5 wheels and 4.30 gears I would think your going to be in the 12-16 mpg range over all.
You didn't say cab style or what you intend to be doing with it. Keep your foot out of the full power and you will get better mileage its that simple and don't go past 2000rpms better to stay in the 1800-1900 range and mileage will be about the best you can expect whatever that works out to be.
2003 F250, 6.0L, crew cab, 8ft bed, lariet, FX4, 315 tires... the "best" i get is 11.5 mpg (thats on highway with no load and a tailwind.) just got back from a trip last weekend, 4 hour drive hauling a big camper about 6-7k loaded, all highway, and i got 10mpg.
You get 11.5 unloaded? I have 315s and get 16-17 highway, you must have issues. My dad's '03 is all stock and he gets 18-19 empty on the highway running 65.
I get 11-12 in town and 16-17 on the highway running 65.

You must have some issues. I have a V10 with 315's and I get 12-13 in the city. You have a diesel - shouldn't you be getting like 16-18?
Are you saying my truck has issues or the OP? I don't drive economically and my tires are too large for my gearing. When I finally get a chance to install the 4.30s sitting in my dad's shop my town mileage will go up. Also, just fueled up with the first tank run using the Mild Street Economy tune from Spartan, got 12.8 around town (all short trips). Thats about a 2 mpg improvement around town just from the tuner, and I was NOT driving economically, I was blowing diesel smoke all over the place
