1994 Ford Explorer

Has anyone had problems with one automatic door lock not working? When we lock the doors, it locks all but the driver's side.

First guess, the door lock actuator (solenoid) is shot.

yep, there is a small motor/ solenoid on the end of a 3/16 diameter rod that pulls the lock lever down. the solenoid gets weak over time and needs replaced. i always assumed they got dirty and "stick" --- i read on anther forum that there is a resistor inside the motor/ solenoid that heats up and breaks down over time. if you open the case and bypass the resistor, that fixes the problem
