Just curious, but what is the correct way to stow the spare? Valve stem facincg down or valve stem facing the the underbody?

I stow with valve stem down so I can check tire pressure without removing. But other than that I don't think it matters

I recently had a flat and there is actually a way to do it according to the manual. But I forgot what it was. I don't know their reasoning, though.

I'm with cbradford, stem down to be able to check the tire pressure. Also, a lot of road crud ends up sitting on top of the tire, so if the good side is up and you ever need to use it, expect to be embarrassed until you get it off again.

04markIII think you are correct, however I think it makes more sense to put V/S down for ease of air pressure check, now if you do lots for serious offroading then you will want the V/S up due to the possibility of breaking it off then spare is NG
